Challis Residence

Sensitivity to the Landscape, Striking Colours, Textures and Intrinsically Ecological Design

Melbourne, Victoria

AMG Architects worked closely with the clients – designers in their own right – to create this enduring design in Freshwater Creek, south-west of Geelong.

Inspired by great architects, Glen Murcutt, Philip Johnson and Mies Van Der Rohe, the end result is defined by its sensitivity to the landscape, striking colours, textures, and intrinsically ecological design.

AMG Architects incorporated the seasonal palette of colours and textures into the design, creating a symphony of light and shadow.

Ample natural daylight and cantilevered eaves reduces heating and cooling costs, while a number of environmentally friendly and energy efficient features reduced the level of wasted construction materials.

“Working on the home with both Raj and Marc was a highly rewarding process in which we learned a lot from each other. Their professionalism and friendly nature made it a very enjoyable process.” – John Challis (Owner).
